5 Miradors and 2 Tunnels, Ardales
This is a pleasant linear walk to a not so well known, slightly hidden Mirador / lookout point.
I parked adjacent to the hotel, Bar / Restaurant La Posada del Conde. (As parking closer to the Caminito del Rey is harder to find).
Cross over the dam Presa Conde del Guadalhorce, with the Cantina bar on your right, and then stop off at the Mirador Luis Morales, (Mirador No 1) where you get a great view of the reservoir and the lake house (La Casa del Administrador).
The Kiosko Bar / Restaurant is on your left, which is usually busy, then turn left and go through the sandstone tunnel, then turn right following the sign for the Caminito. The path is shaded with fir trees and the river Guadalhorce is down below on your left.
At the intersection (turn right for the Caminito) go straight ahead for about 100m where you will arrive at the Mirador Curva del Río (Mirador No 2, there are no markers or signs here). The best views are going down slightly to your right, but it’s slippery and close to the edge, so take great care.
Back at the intersection take the thin uphill trail which will bring you to Mirador de los Embalses (Mirador No 3), looking over the Conde del Guadalhorce reservoir.
From here it’s a short distance to the Turret Mirador on your right, (Mirador No 4).
Coming down from here you arrive at an intersection, where you turn left past the barrier (restriction to vehicles).
A short distance down on your left there is a hidden path to a lookout point (Mirador No 5), with also great views including Sierra de Huma, Pico Convento and the River Guadalhorce. From here the path to the left takes you to some rock formations. Turning right the path takes you to the long Caminito del Rey tunnel (Túnel Largo). Once through turning right onto the northern access road which will bring you back to the parking area.
A great short walk with a few surprises and an abundance of views that won’t disappoint.
