Itinerary description
A relaxing walk in the area of Mons.
You start from the square in front of the school. You take rue du Comte (first asphalt, then unsealed road going uphill). After around 500 metres you turn sharply right to go down along rue Briffaut. You will go by a small cemetery on your left, then a junction with rue de Robersart on your right (but you continue straight), a bridge over La Wampe and still further straight rue de Spiennes. On your way you will find some information boards about neolithic flint mines of Spiennes.
200 hundred metres after you pass next to the last building in the village you turn left into an unsurfaced road going up. You continue +/- 550 metres when your road turns right. After another +/- 350 metres you reach a removed railway line which you take on your right. You continue along for 600 metres, and you go down from the embankment on your right side to reach the extension of rue de Spiennes: rue de Nouvelles, which is here an unsurfaced road. This is a moment where you need to be careful not to slip down...
You turn left rue de Nouvelles and go under the old railway bridge. You continue along rue de Nouvelles and then rue du Petit Spiennes. After +/- 500 metres of going along rue du Petit Spiennes you turn left to rue du Point du Jour, and you continue along the asphalt, which will at certain moment turn to the right.
When you reach a crossroad you turn left to go back to Nouvelles (rue du Pont du Prince). You will continue under another old railway bridge and along La Wampe on your right. 800 metres after the railway bridge you reach again rue Briffaut and you turn right. After 200 metres you turn left into rue de Robersart to reach after 3-4 minutes the square from where you have started.

Balade très sympa, facile et sous le soleil ! Attention tout de même, une fois sur le pont de l’ancien chemin de fer, il faut bien dévaler la pente sur la gauche pour retrouver l’itinéraire.
