Itinerary description

A beautiful route that includes Montesquiu Castle (https://parcs.diba.cat/web/montesquiu) and the ruined castle of Besora (http://www.santamariabesora.cat/el-municipi/guia-del-municipi/llocs-dinteres/-castell-de-besora.html). From here we pass through the village of Santa Maria de Besora and on through some farmland and forests to Mir Restaurant and Mir waterfall. From the waterfall we climb back up through forest to a ridgeline that provides spectacular views. Returning to Sant Quirze de besora.

Allow 7-9 hours to complete this route and a medium level of fitness is required as there is some uphill walking required.

The path passes via a small doorway in a dry pond basin that was the reserve lake for the drop down channel to the watermill. Don't try to go in the doorway or climb down the basin shown in this photo. the path is about 5 metres in front and passes via a ruined stone building.

    I would classify it as safe but that depends on your level of hiking experience, local conditions on the day such as weather etc
