Itinerary description

Another hidden gem in UAE!

Well, first of all i have to mention Fujairah adventures once again for renovating the historic places and making adventurous activities related to them.. There are a number of trails they made / renovate recently including the Ain Alsheria Geological Trail..

The trail is relatively easy but i did rate it as moderate since we deviated a bit and went to the top of a mountain. There is well laid trail path in almost the areas but i still recommend to follow wikiloc.

The beginning of the trail is more ascent than descent, so continue with steady and slow pace..The path is beautiful with multicolored and gigantic rocks.. The highlight of the trail is the giant rock which comes around the middle of the trail with ancient inscriptions and drawings / petroglyphs.. This must be thousands of years old.. There is a mountain peak next to this rock, its not not a part of the trail but we tried to go there and get on top of it to see the view and gain some elevation.. This is optional, you can skip it and continue the trail as well..

Even the route to the hiking area is such a beautiful way.. You will be coming through the road towards Jebel Yibir.. Just be careful while driving as the road is broken at the edges in some areas.. Later You will drive about 3km on muddy road.. Its quite steep as well.. But sedan car can go.. if you drive carefully you can park as close as 50m to the starting point..but there is a tricky hump which may make your car bottom scratched.. (25.606079893373643, 56.152574450193484).. You can also park saloon cars next to the farm which is about 100-150m before the trail.. (25.607289, 56.151579)
However this muddy road may get damaged and become not suitable for sedan if there is rain or flood.. so be prepared..

Parking : (25.606079893373643, 56.152574450193484) SUVs
(25.607289, 56.151579) Sedan
Difficulty : Easy to moderate
Highlight : Rock with ancient inscriptions and petroglyphs, multi colored rocks

Note the waypoints and read their description. Please reach out for any further info / clarifications

I did this trail today. Thanks a bunch for the GPS coordinates, made it easy to reach the trailhead. People going in sedan needs to drive bit carefully. Parts of the dirt roads are narrow and bit beaten up. There is a small hump 25 meters before the parking, low profile cars may get the bottom scratched at this point. Advisable to park 25 meters before this spot next to the farm and continue on foot.

Overall enjoyed the hike very much 😊. It was foggy and cold when we started the hike till we completed it. Sun was up, but rays were soothing. Loved the monolith stone and the paintings also. Thanks a lot Mihasin for sharing the trail. Greatly appreciate your contribution to WiKiLoc 🙂

Lovely trail. You need a 4 wheel drive to get there. The road is not in a good state. The end of the trail is not well marked so thanks to this map that showed us the way

    Hi Tania,

Thanks fore reviewing the trail.. It was possible to reach the starting point with sedan (150 m before the trail).. May be now the road got damaged because of rain? or too many cars are passing nowadays?

However, glad that you enjoyed it.. more hikes to come.. :)

@ Muhasin Pallikkal, would you advise setting up camp at the start point of the trail?

    Hi @Abdul Qadhir Bukhari ,

There is a resting area kinda setup at the starting point... So camping is doable i believe.. There is also a farm close to it..

We went to this hike on early morning of May 08th and enjoyed it greatly. Thank you for taking time to upload the hike, include a detailed description and waypoints! Extremely helpful! The condition of the last stretch of asphalt road that runs over the mountain and leads to the trailhead keeps deteriorating with half of it collapsing down the cliff in some places. Driving there was nerve wracking and memorable part of our adventure :)

Thanks a lot for the review. I have done this trail today and I enjoyed a lot.

Lucky I had the chance to reach the starting point with a 4x4 car but sedan cars were parked very very far from that point so I don't know how to get on the trail from there but might be kind of long.

    Ciao

Incredible trail - the first part is easy and then you get to the big climb. That’s one heck of a climb up, but if you take the route counterclockwise, it’s not as exhausting (thought it could get tricky coming down - steep with loose rocks). The petroglyphs make it well worth the hike and the easier approach is the counterclockwise version.

  • Viktoriia Korolova Feb 8, 2024

Thank you for the route. It was an amazing trip. The very begging was quite challenging though, because of its steep climb. Wonderful rock formations and a combination of green and red rocks - that’s incredible view!
