Itinerary description
One of the most scenic hikes in the UAE!
Notes - The road towards the starting point, is a steep road towards Jebel Yibir. If you start early (before sunrise), it is easy to miss the sharp exit to the right (beginning of the gravel road). Ensure that you are "super alert" as the tar road has caved in at multiple points, towards the valley side. The extremely steep gradient also means that you will burn and smell the overworked break pads, while driving back. We experienced this first hand. You should be able to drive to the trailhead, in a sedan as well, but a AWD/4WD is highly recommended.
The hike trail is well marked and possibly has, most of the visual flavours of the Hajar mountain range. The hills run a colour riot, while you walk through the ravine. It made us wonder whether the colours are a result of ferrous corrosion or copper deposits. Eitherway, it is a visual treat. The trail is well laid out, and doable with children. We took multiple breaks to soak in the beauty of nature, surrounding us.
The summit is easily reachable and there, you will find the highlight of this trail (archeological find - prehistoric rock art/petroglyph). There are a few large boulders next to this ancient rock. We climbed those boulders to open up to a beautiful panoramic views of the villages on the plateau. This climb is a bit difficult because of the loose gravel and no marked path.
The decline is fairly simple, however, there is hardly any shade. While doing the loop, we ended up on a gravel road, and this part could be avoided. We turned back on the mountain trail, after a short distance (visible on the map).
Highly recommended as a leisure walk/hike.

It's a beautiful and scenic hike, full of unique stone colors and terrain. It can be done with kids as it is an easy to moderate level hike with no steep climbs or scrambling involved.
Recommend.. duration of 4-5 hours

Lovely views on this one, the colours of the rocks look amazing!
True! The brittle rocks were atypical of the Hajar mountain terrain.

A beautiful trail, the first part is very scenery. The second part is fantastic for the variety of rocks. I strongly recommend this trail, easy to follow the signs.
Glad you loved it!
