Se trata de una cumbre que se sitúa justo al Sur de la capital Alavesa en los Montes de Vitoria. Pese a ser más alta que la cercana cumbre de Zaldiaran (975 m), no es tan famosa o conocida. Su ladera Norte se halla cubierta por imponentes hayedos y, curiosamente, no existe senda que la recorra para conseguir la cima. La ladera sur, al ser más soleada, posee quejigos y encinas

La denominación "Cuervo" con que figura de forma reiterada en los catastrales, aparece en los actas de amojonamiento del término de Vitoria-Gasteiz, al menos desde 1702. Hay que señalar que en la cumbre no existe ningún mojón expreso. Los más cercanos son (citando su número): (453) Los Boquerones, (452) Los Boquerones, (451) Calicacho, (450) Peña del Cuervo, (449) Hayedico, (448) Ubieta, (447) Ariaza (446) Urmendi, en el Puerto de Vitoria. Arrieta es, simplemente, el nombre del pueblo de la vertiente S (Trebiño), y no la cumbre, sobre la cual discurre el límite entre esta población y Vitoria-Gasteiz. En Askartza/Ascarza utilizan, también la denominación, (La) Hayalta

Mi ascensión

Día fresco y luminoso. Salgo desde Berrostegieta en dirección a Lasarte. Esta parte de la ruta es sencilla y sin desnivel. El tramo hasta Gaztelu/Castillo ya tiene el primer repecho, que crece hasta un 30% en la subida hasta el Alto de la Cruz, donde hay una serie de antenas. Esta subida es por una estrecha pista de tierra que estaba bastante seca pero con barro, esta subida seguro que es complicada. La siguiente subida es una ruta directa al pico Lendizgana (848 m), con desnivel del 25%. Tras llegar a esta cumbre, hay que pasar del otro lado de la alambrada para seguir el camino y acceder a un prado donde es posible que haya caballos. Todavía tenemos una cima más antes de llegar a nuestro destino. Es el pico Areatza-Rósteta (917 m). El monte Cuervo-Arrieta es una cima despejada, a la que se llega después de un interesante recorrido junto a un cortado. El camino de vuelta es mucho más sencillo que la subida porque sólo es descender hasta llegar a la carretera que sube al puerto Zaldiaran. En ese puerto tomé la decisión de bajar por la carretera porque iba mal de tiempo. Es más interesante hacer la subida el monte Zaldiaran (978 m)

En conjunto, es una ruta que mezcla pistas forestales anchas con caminos de tierra estrechos y prados. Hay llanos y tramos con pendientes, algunas fuertes

This is a summit that is located just south of the capital of Alava in the Vitoria Mountains. Despite being higher than the nearby summit of Zaldiaran (975 m), it is not as famous or well-known. Its northern slope is covered by imposing beech forests and, curiously, there is no path that runs along it to reach the summit. The southern slope, being sunnier, has gall oaks and holm oaks

The name "Cuervo", which appears repeatedly in the land registers, appears in the records of the boundary demarcation of Vitoria-Gasteiz, at least since 1702. It should be noted that there is no express boundary marker at the summit. The closest ones are (citing their number): (453) Los Boquerones, (452) Los Boquerones, (451) Calicacho, (450) Peña del Cuervo, (449) Hayedico, (448) Ubieta, (447) Ariaza (446) Urmendi, in the Port of Vitoria. Arrieta is simply the name of the village on the S slope (Trebiño), and not the summit, over which the boundary between this town and Vitoria-Gasteiz runs. My ascent

Fresh and bright day. I leave from Berrostegieta, heading Lasarte. This part of the route is easy and without elevation. The stretch up to Gaztelu/Castillo already has the first steep slope, which grows up to 30% on the ascent to the Alto de la Cruz, where there is a series of antennas. This climb is on a narrow dirt track that was quite dry but muddy, this climb is sure to be tricky. The next climb is a direct route to the Lendizgana peak (848 m), with a slope of 25%. After reaching this peak, we have to go through the other side of the wire fence to follow the path and access a meadow where there may be horses. We still have one more peak before reaching our destination. It is the Areatza-Rósteta peak (917 m). The Cuervo-Arrieta mountain is a clear peak, which is reached after an interesting route alongside to a cut. The way back is much easier than the ascent because it is only descending until you reach the road that goes up to the Zaldiaran pass. In this pass I decided to go down the road because I was short of time. It is more interesting to climb Zaldiaran mountain (978 m)

Overall, it is a route that mixes wide forest tracks with narrow dirt roads and meadows. There are flat zones and other with slopes, some of them steep
