Según mendikat.net, en Álava existen casi 250 montes de mil metros o más. Éste es el Jaunden, de 1035 metros

Cumbre que separa el valle del río Ega del condado de Trebiño. Su cima es un pequeño promontorio rocoso que sobresale sobre un frondoso hayedo lo que hacía que la localización del buzón que señaliza la cima fuese francamente difícil antes de la señalización de un itinerario que llega a la cima. Esta montaña también es conocida con el nombre de Jaundel

La cumbre con vértice geodésico y 977 metros de altitud situada Al NW se conoce con el nombre de La Rasa. Con este nombre se conoce más exactamente a toda una extensión de terreno compartida por los ayuntamientos vecinos

Mi ascensión

Esta ruta comienza en el pueblo burgalés de Laño, situado en el Condado de Treviño, dentro de Álava. No hay aparcamiento público así que hay que buscar un buen sitio para aparcar para que el coche no moleste

La ruta tiene dos partes. La primera nos lleva hasta la cima del Jaunden y la segunda nos acerca al interesantísimo eremitorio de Santorkaria. La ruta no tiene grandes pendientes, 15-16% aproximadamente, como mucho

La subida al Jaunden es entretenida, sobre todo la parte que va desde el WPT “Desvío a cima” hasta la propia cima. Ese tramo se realiza por un precioso hayedo. No hay una senda muy marcada en el suelo así que hay que ir localizando y siguiendo los hitos de piedras y palos que hay colocados. La navegación por este bosque es divertida. Los hitos nos llevan directos hasta el pequeño buzón montañero. Sin ayuda de los hitos, el buzón no es fácil encontrar porque está sobre un pequeño promontorio rocoso. La cima no tiene paisaje que reseñar porque está rodeada de hayas. Ese bosque es una de las mejores atracciones de la ruta. De camino al Jaunden nos acercamos a La Rasa, que tiene un curioso buzón y un vértice geodésico

La segunda parte de la ruta nos lleva al eremitorio de Santorkaria, un extraño enclavamiento de población entre los siglos IV y VII. Tras la visita al eremitorio solo nos queda un kilómetro y pico por carretera hasta Laño

En conjunto, es una ruta sencilla y atractiva, con gran parte por bosque de roble, haya o pino, y siempre con pistas anchas y bien visibles o con hitos fáciles de seguir

My ascent

This trail starts in the village of Laño in the province of Burgos, located in Condado de Treviño, within the province of Álava. There is no public parking so it is necessary to look for a good place to park so that the car does not disturb

The route has two parts. The first one takes us to the top of Jaunden and the second one takes us to the very interesting eremitory of Santorkaria. The route does not have steep slopes, 15-16% approximately, at the most

The ascent to the Jaunden is entertaining, especially the part that goes from the WPT "Detour to summit" to the summit itself. That section is through a beautiful beech forest. There is not a very marked path on the ground so you have to locate and follow the milestones of stones and sticks that are placed. Navigation through this forest is fun. The milestones lead us directly to the small mountain mailbox. Without the help of the milestones, the letterbox is not easy to find because it is on a small rocky promontory. The summit has no scenery to note because it is surrounded by beech trees. That forest is one of the best attractions of the route. On the trail to Jaunden we approach La Rasa, which has a curious letterbox and a geodesic vertex

The second part of the route takes us to the eremitory of Santorkaria, a strange settlement between the 4th and 7th centuries. After the visit to the eremitory we only have a kilometer and a bit by road to Laño

Overall, it is a simple and attractive route, with a large part through oak, beech or pine forest, and always with wide and well visible tracks or milestones that are easy to follow
