Alava1000+ 1039 m Galartza

Según mendikat.net, en Álava existen casi 250 montes de mil metros o más. Éste es el Galartza, de 1039 metros

Cumbre de los Montes de Vitoria (Gasteizko Mendiak) al N de Kapildui (1175 m), separada del mismo por el cordal de Tierras Blancas. Es una cota aplanada aunque con cierto dominio panorámico. Deja al W el Puerto de Añua (941 m), por donde discurre la ruta más interesante, que tiene su inicio en Ixona (566 m)

Mi ascensión

Una vez que se deja el coche aparcado en el pueblo de Hijona/Ixona, tomamos una corta pista de cemento hasta llegar al bosque. Una vez en el hayedo, ya no saldremos de él en toda la ruta, salvo en la propia cima, que está en un claro. El bosque es precioso y por sí solo hace que esta ruta sea muy interesante. De hecho, el bosque vale más que la propia cima. El Galartza es un cumbre sencilla de conseguir y con bonitas vistas. Por otro lado, no hay una señalización especialmente vistosa en la cima

El camino es fácil de seguir en su mayoría pero hay dos puntos a tener en cuenta. El primero es que hay que cruzar la alambrada muy oxidada después de llegar al collado; no hay que seguir la pista forestal que sale del collado. El segundo es un poco después de la cima Almurrain, donde hay que desviarse ligeramente a la derecha, descendiendo por la ladera, a lo largo de una senda no muy visible

En resumen, esta es una sencilla ruta a través de un bosque tan precioso que hace que la propia cima no sea tan vistosa

Summit of the Vitoria Mountains (Gasteizko Mendiak) to the N of Kapildui (1175 m), separated from it by the Tierras Blancas range. It is a flattened elevation although with a certain panoramic dominance. It leaves the Puerto de Añua (941 m) to the W, where the most interesting trail starts in Ixona (566 m)

My ascent

Once the car is parked in the village of Hijona/Ixona, we take a short cement track until we reach the forest. Once in the beech forest, we will not leave it in the whole route, except at the top itself, which is in a clearing. The forest is beautiful and by itself makes this trail very interesting. In fact, the forest is worth more than the summit itself. The Galartza is an easy summit to get to and with nice views. On the other hand, there is no particularly attractive signalization at the summit

The trail is easy to follow for the most part but there are two points to keep in mind. The first is that you have to cross the very rusty wire fence after you reach the col; do not follow the forest trail that leaves the col. The second is a little after the Almurrain summit, where you have to turn slightly to the right, descending the slope, along a path that is not very visible

In short, this is an easy route through a forest so beautiful that it makes the summit itself not so showy
