Alava1000+ 1045 m Eskaleruela

Según mendikat.net, en Álava existen casi 250 montes de mil metros o más. Éste es el Eskaleruela, de 1045 metros

Descripción del monte (extraído de www.mendikat.net):

Modestísima cumbre ubicada entre Bachicabo y Mota que pasaría totalmente desapercibida de no ser porque supone un mirador excepcional sobre los bosques de Valdegobía, Valderejo y San Zadornil y porque tiene un buzón que representa la Torre de los Varona de Villanañe

El punto más alto (1051 m) se encuentra en 30T 491257 4738132 entre helechos, pinos y matorral, sin ningún interés particular. El mirador (1045 m), con una prominencia de 7 m respecto al punto anterior se encuentra en 30T 491247 4738298

Mi ascensión

La subida al Eskaleruela desde el pueblo de Barrio por esta ruta es una caminata sencilla, sin ninguna dificultad. Es pueblo es un lugar tranquilo y pintoresco



Tras aparcar el coche en el amplio parking público que hay a la entrada del pueblo, pasamos la iglesia y empezamos la subida. Toda la ruta, salvo el tramo final hasta la cima, se hará por pista de 4x4, de tierra, ancha y muy sencilla de caminar

La primera parte de la ruta es a través de un bosque de pinos, denso y muy verde. Se continúa el ascenso hasta que, en un momento dado, la tierra cambia por hierba y los pinos por hayas, volviéndose el paseo más agradable. En ningún momento tenemos grandes pendientes ni dificultades para seguir la orientación



El bosque se ha convertido definitivamente en un hayedo, con ramas muy bajas, formando un entorno precioso. Estamos a 1035 m y eso nos avisa de que estamos cerca del desvío hacia la cima. La senda hasta la cima, los últimos 500 metros, se hacen sin una senda muy marcada. Primero hay que cruzar un denso campo de helechos, tras el cual entramos en un bosque de robles y pinos, donde nos espera la cima. Este último tramo y buscar el sorprendente buzón montañero que tiene el Eskeleruela, son lo mejor de todo el paseo. No hemos podido disfrutar de las vistas desde la cima por la niebla







En alguna reseña he leído que el acceso a la cumbre desde el Norte es complicado porque tiene unas últimas pendientes muy elevadas. No he podido comprobarlo, pero el acceso que he hecho yo desde el Sur es muy fácil, sin ningún tipo de complicación

La vuelta se desanda hasta el WPT “Desvío izquierda al volver”, donde dejamos la senda de subida para regresar a Barrio por un camino distinto. Este camino de descenso también es fácil, entre pinos y caminando sobre hierba en algunas zonas

A very modest summit located between Bachicabo and Mota that would go totally unnoticed if it were not for the exceptional viewpoint over the forests of Valdegobía, Valderejo and San Zadornil and for the fact that it has a letterbox representing the Tower of the Varona de Villanañe

The highest point (1051 m) is located at 30T 491257 4738132 between ferns, pines and scrub, without any particular interest. The viewpoint (1045 m), with a prominence of 7 m with respect to the previous point is at 30T 491247 4738298

My ascent

The ascent to the Eskaleruela from the village of Barrio by this route is an easy hike, without any difficulty. The village is a quiet and picturesque place



After parking the car in the large public parking lot at the entrance of the village, we passed the church and began the climb. The whole trail, except for the final stretch to the top, will be on a 4x4 trail, wide and very easy to walk

The first part of the trail is through a dense and very green pine forest. The ascent continues until, at a given moment, the dirt changes to grass and the pines to beeches, making the walk more pleasant. At no time we have great slopes or difficulties to follow the orientation



The forest has definitely become a beech forest, with very low branches, creating a beautiful environment. We are at 1035 m and that warns us that we are close to the detour to the top. The path to the top, the last 500 meters, are made without a very marked path. First we have to cross a dense field of ferns, after which we enter a forest of oaks and pines, where the summit awaits us. This last stretch and looking for the surprising mountain mailbox that the Eskeleruela has, are the best of the whole walk. We have not been able to enjoy the views from the top because of the fog







In some review I have read that the access to the summit from the North is complicated because it has very high last slopes. I have not been able to verify it, but the access that I have done from the South is very easy, without any complication

The return is untracked until the WPT "Take left at return", where we leave the uphill trail to return to Barrio by a different route. This downhill path is also easy, through pine trees and walking on grass in some areas
