Mi ascensión

Entretenida e interesante ruta que sale desde el pueblo de Sobrón Alto. Se accede al pueblo desde la preciosa carretera que bordea al pantano de Sobrón Alto. La subida hasta el pueblo es una buena colección de curvas. El pueblo tiene una pequeña zona habilitada como aparcamiento pero sólo caben 5 coches. Hay una campa junto a la vieja iglesia que también puede servir de aparcamiento. Antes de salir, merece la pena dedicar unos minutos a inspeccionar las ruinas de la iglesia de la Purísima Concepción



El ascenso se realiza a través de pistas cómodas y anchas de 4x4 y, también, por sendas más estrechas. En cualquier caso, son muy fáciles de seguir. Los desvíos se ven claramente y es sencillo orientarse mediante un GPS. La ruta es muy tranquila, existiendo la posibilidad de escuchar muchos pájaros en el bosque de pinos, hayas y robles. El punto de salida en el pueblo está a 690 metros así que no va a haber mucho desnivel acumulado. Esto no quita que haya algún tramo corto con fuerte pendiente. El ascenso por el bosque limita la visibilidad del entorno aunque se vislumbran las paredes de los farallones alrededor



Durante el ascenso nos encontramos con el desvío al pico Costero, una cumbre menor. El desvío está indicado con pintura verde en los árboles



En el WPT “Abandonar la pista principal por la derecha” tenemos que dejar la pista ancha principal y adentrarnos en el bosque de pinos y arbustos de boj. Se distingue este desvío por las rocas apiladas junto al borde de la pista. La senda que comienza aquí es estrecha y no es muy visible pero hay hitos de rocas y marcas de pintura verde que facilitan muchísimo la orientación; es fundamental no perderlos de vista





Al llegar al WPT “Desvío a cima” nos dirigimos ya directamente a la Peña de La Rozada. El desvío está claramente indicado con unas marcas verdes en los árboles. La senda en este tramo apenas se distingue en el suelo y aquí, de nuevo, es fundamental no perder las marcas de hitos de rocas y los puntos verdes. Aprovecho para agradecer a todas las personas que se preocupan de marcar los senderos en el monte. Su trabajo hace que los demás disfrutemos de la naturaleza sin grandes riesgos



Tras un corto tramo de pendiente próxima al 40%, la cima consiste en una roca que sobresale un par de metros, con un pequeño buzón montañero en forma de tronco y hacha. Desde la cima solo hay vistas al Sureste, divisándose el pueblo de Sobrón Alto. Se puede subir a la roca sin problema pero con precaución



Tras coronar, se vuelve a la pista ancha que estábamos siguiendo, para ir dirigiéndonos hacia el pueblo dando un pequeño rodeo por el Norte. La bajada es por pista muy visible hasta llegar a la fuente La Toba. Ahí, unos 15 metros pasada la fuente, se abre un camino a la derecha que sale de la pista principal. Hay que seguir ese desvío, por una senda estrecha pero visible y que desciende con bastante pendiente (WPT “Dejar la pista por la derecha, tomar senda”). A partir de aquí, todo es sencillo hasta el aparcamiento

Una ruta bonita y entretenida, sin grandes problemas de orientación si se va pendiente del GPS y de los hitos

My ascent

Entertaining and interesting route that starts from the village of Sobrón. The village is accessed from the beautiful road that borders the Sobrón reservoir. The ascent to the village is a good collection of bends. The village has a small parking area but only 5 cars can fit. There is a field next to the old church that can also serve as parking. Before leaving, it is worth taking a few minutes to inspect the ruins of the church of the Church of the Immaculate Conception



The ascent is done through comfortable and wide 4x4 tracks and, also, by narrower trails. In any case, they are very straightforward to follow. The detours are clearly visible and it is easy to find your way around using a GPS. The route is very quiet, with the possibility of hearing many birds in the forest of pines, beeches and oaks. The starting point in the village is at 690 meters so there will not be much accumulated elevation gain. This does not mean that there will not be some short sections with steep slopes. The ascent through the forest limits the visibility of the environment although the walls of the cliffs around are glimpsed



During the ascent we come across the detour to Costero peak, a minor summit. The deviation is indicated with green paint on the trees



In the WPT "Leave the main track on the right" we have to leave the main wide track and enter the forest of pines and boxwood bushes. You can distinguish this detour by the rocks piled up along the edge of the track. The trail that starts here is narrow and not very visible but there are rock milestones and green paint markings that make orientation much easier; it is essential not to lose sight of them





Arriving at the WPT "Detour to summit" we head directly to Peña de La Rozada. The detour is clearly indicated with green marks on the trees. The path in this section is barely distinguishable on the ground and here, again, it is essential not to lose the marks of rock milestones and green dots. I take this opportunity to thank all the people who take care to mark the trails in the mountain. Their work makes it possible for the rest of us to enjoy nature without great risk



After a short stretch of slope close to 40%, the summit consists of a rock protruding a couple of meters, with a small mountaineering mailbox in the form of a trunk and axe. From the top there are views only to the southeast, overlooking the village of Sobrón Alto. You can climb the rock without problem but with caution



After crowning, we return to the wide track that we were following, to go towards the village taking a small detour to the North. The descent is on a very visible track until you reach the La Toba fountain. There, about 15 meters past the fountain, there is a path to the right that leaves the main track. Follow this detour along a narrow but visible path that descends quite steeply (WPT "Leave the trail to the right, take the path"). From here, everything is easy until the parking lot

A nice and entertaining route, with no major orientation problems if you follow the GPS and the milestones
