Alava1000+ 1069 m Kortaundi

Según mendikat.net, en Álava existen casi 250 montes de mil metros o más. Éste es el Kortaundi, de 1069 metros

Descripción del monte (extraído de www.mendikat.net):

Cumbre de la sierra de Entzia al W del puerto de Andoin (1017 m). En un rellano (1048 m) anterior a la propia cumbre se sitúan las cabañas de la majada del mismo nombre

Mi ascensión

Esta sencilla ruta arranca en el pueblo de Urabain, cerca del límite de Álava con Navarra. El pueblo no tiene zona habilitada como parking público así que hay que aparcar sin molestar a los vecinos



Tras cruzar el pueblo y girar en la iglesia, comienza una sencilla caminata que no tiene ni grandes pendientes ni complicaciones en cuanto a orientación. La marcha siempre transcurre por pista ancha de piedra o estrecha de tierra, con alguna zona de hierba. Hay hasta un tramo de antigua calzada



Prácticamente todo el camino es a través de bosque, más o menos abierto. Hay unos cuantos desvíos y cruces pero todos son visibles. Sólo hay una zona complicada, la indicada con el WPT “Maleza”. Son unos 300 metros de senda que no está limpia y que hay muchas ramas, maleza, espinos, etc que obligan a caminar con mucho cuidado para no acabar con muchos arañazos. Quitando este tramo, todo lo demás es fácil

La cima está poco después de girar a la derecha al llegar al puerto de Andoin. La cima, herbosa y despejada, tiene un pequeño hito formado de rocas que permite disfrutar del valle de Sakana. Ziordia, Olazagutía y Alsasua se distinguen perfectamente





La bajada es por el mismo sitio que la subida así que no son necesarias más explicaciones

En resumen, relajada ruta sin apenas complicaciones de ningún tipo

Nota: esta ruta, o parte de ella, es de ida y vuelta. Las indicaciones de los desvíos que se facilitan en el itinerario corresponden a la subida. Es decir, si el WPT marca “Izquierda”, es un desvío a la izquierda al subir, pero a la derecha al bajar

My ascent

This easy route starts in the village of Urabain, near the border between Álava and Navarre. The village does not have a public car park so you have to park without disturbing the neighbours



After crossing the village and turning at the church, a straightforward walk begins, with no steep slopes or complications in terms of orientation. The walk is always on a wide stone or narrow dirt track, with the occasional grassy area. There is even a stretch of old stone road



Almost all the hike is through woods, more or less open. There are a few detours and junctions but all are visible. There is only one tricky area, the one marked with the WPT "Weed". It is about 300 metres of path that is not clean and there are many branches, weeds, thorns, etc. that require you to walk very carefully so as not to end up with many scratches. Apart from this section, everything else is easy

The summit is shortly after turning right when you reach the Andoin pass. The summit, grassy and clear, has a small milestone made of rocks that allows you to enjoy the Sakana valley. Ziordia, Olazagutía and Alsasua are clearly distinguishable





The descent is by the same route as the ascent, so no further explanation is necessary

In short, a relaxed route with hardly any complications of any kind

Note: this route, or part of it, is a round trip. The indications of the detours provided in the itinerary correspond to the ascent. That is to say, if the WPT marks "Left", it is a detour to the left on the way up, but to the right on the way down
