Alava1000+ 1071 m Riparasa

Según mendikat.net, en Álava existen casi 250 montes de mil metros o más. Éste es el Riparasa, de 1071 metros

Descripción del monte (extraído de www.mendikat.net):

Cumbre en la vertiente Norte de la sierra de Toloño. Por su posición más adelantada, es una zona que muestra panorámicas hacia el valle del Inglares, donde se sitúa la población de Berganzo/Bergantzu (594 m)

Lo cierto es que el topónimo Riparasa o Reparasa si aparece para designar ciertos pastizales entorno a Toloño, si bien los mapas lo sitúan en lugares distintos: la ladera que desde los rasos de Ortada asciende hacia el portillo Salsipuedes (1156 m), entre Toloño (1271 m) y peña Bonbalatxi (1221 m), la ladera que sube hacia los llanos que se extienden entre Peña las Doce (1252 m) y Mendilaza (1153 m). Pero algunos parecen aplicar el término de forma general a toda la vertiente Norte del monte que cae hacia Bergantzo. En cualquier caso, esta denominación es la que ha sido plasmada en el gran y trabajado buzón que el club de montañeros de la Virgen del Campo de Berganzo situó en esta altura el 1 de enero del año 2005

Antiguamente debió existir buzón en esta desconocida cumbre y que no llegan a nombrar los mapas. En un viejo libro de Montes de Araba (Aldasoro) se cita con el nombre de Las Sopas. Posteriormente desapareció o fue destruido

Cerca de la cima se enclave el menhir de Riparasa, descubierto el año 1979, que fue datado en el paleolítico medio

Mi ascensión

Divertida ruta que sale del pueblo de Berganzo. En el pueblo está prohibido aparcar si no eres vecino así que hay que dejar el coche en un aparcamiento público que hay un kilómetro antes del pueblo. Hay que reservar plaza en este aparcamiento. Entre semana no parece haber muchos problemas para aparcar

La ruta es por bosque casi en su totalidad. No tiene muchos problemas de orientación ni cruces difíciles. Hay que estar atento, eso sí, porque hay zonas boscosas en las que no hay senda visible y es necesario seguir las indicaciones del GPS



Hay dos o tres tramos de pendiente fuerte, entre 25 y 32 %. Requiere esfuerzo pero no son largos tramos. Quizá la parte más complicada es al regresar, cuando hay que seguir el cauce del arroyo (ver WPT). Esa zona se trata de un cauce que puede estar húmedo y resbaladizo; las piedras están cubiertas de musgo y hay algunos pasos con más de un metro de desnivel

En la cima hay unos cuantos promontorios rocosos. La cima está despejada y tiene un bonito buzón montañero y agradables vistas. El descenso comienza cruzando un prado que nos lleva a un bosque donde no hay, inicialmente, senda visible. Se puede caminar bien siguiendo el GPS





Una vez que se deja el cauce del arroyo, el resto del regreso es cómodo y muy sencillo

Por la complicación de los 600 metros del tramo del cauce del arroyo y por las zonas de pendiente fuerte, he clasificado esta ruta como de dificultad moderada pero este recorrido no tiene otra complicación adicional



Nota: esta ruta, o parte de ella, es de ida y vuelta. Las indicaciones de los desvíos que se facilitan en el itinerario corresponden a la subida. Es decir, si el WPT marca “Izquierda”, es un desvío a la izquierda al subir, pero a la derecha al bajar

According to mendikat.net, there are almost 250 mountains of 1,000 meters or more in Alava. This is Riparasa, 1071 meters high

Summit on the northern slopes of the Toloño mountain range. Due to its more advanced position, it is an area with panoramic views towards the Inglares valley, where the village of Berganzo/Bergantzu (594 m) is located

The fact is that the toponym Riparasa or Reparasa does appear to designate certain pastures around Toloño, although the maps place it in different places: the slope that ascends from the rasos de Ortada towards the portillo Salsipuedes (1156 m), between Toloño (1271 m) and Peña Bonbalatxi (1221 m), the slope that ascends towards the plains that extend between Peña las Doce (1252 m) and Mendilaza (1153 m). But some seem to apply the term generally to the entire northern slope of the mountain that falls towards Bergantzo. In any case, this denomination is the one that has been captured on the great and elaborate letterbox that the Virgen del Campo de Berganzo mountaineers' club placed on this height on 1st January 2005

In the past, there must have been a letterbox on this unknown summit, which is not mentioned on the maps. In an old book on the Mountains of Araba (Aldasoro) it is mentioned under the name of Las Sopas. It later disappeared or was destroyed

Near the summit is the Riparasa menhir, discovered in 1979, which was dated to the Middle Palaeolithic

My ascent

A fun route that starts in the village of Berganzo. It is forbidden to park in the village if you are not a neighbour, so you have to leave your car in a public car park one kilometre before the village. You have to reserve a parking space in this car park. On weekdays there doesn't seem to be many parking problems

The route is almost entirely through forest. It does not have many orientation problems or difficult crossings. You have to be careful, however, because there are wooded areas where there is no visible path and it is necessary to follow the GPS indications



There are two or three steep sections, between 25 and 32%. It requires effort but they are not long stretches. Perhaps the most difficult part is on the way back, when you have to follow the stream bed (see WPT). This area is very wet and slippery bed, the stones are covered with moss and there are some steps with more than one metre of height difference

At the top there are a few rocky promontories. The summit is clear and has a nice mountain letterbox and pleasant views. The descent begins by crossing a meadow that takes us into a forest where there is initially no visible path. You can walk easily following the GPS





Once you leave the stream bed, the rest of the return is comfortable and very easy

Because of the complication of the 600 metre section of the stream bed and the steeply sloping areas, I have classified this route as moderate difficulty but this route has no additional complications



Note: this route, or part of it, is a round trip. The indications of the detours provided in the itinerary correspond to the ascent. That is to say, if the WPT marks "Left", it is a detour to the left on the way up, but to the right on the way down
