Promontorio al sureste de Erea del que probablemente toma el nombre. Esta bonita cota esta coronada por uno de los típicos hitos de esta sierra. Desde su cima podemos contemplar la grandeza de esta sierra, un auténtico paraíso natural, que desgraciadamente se ve amenazada cíclicamente por la construcción de centrales eólicas, toda una aberración

Mi ascensión

Bonita ruta que sale del pueblo de Osma, cerca ya del límite con Castilla y León. Donde comienza la ruta, en la plaza de Cimavilla, no hay una zona delimitada de aparcamiento así que hay que dejar el coche donde no moleste a los vecinos

Según se indica en un cartel, esta es una zona de pastoreo de ovejas pero también de lobos. Eso significa que puede haber perros mastines guardando los rebaños. Los mastines no deben suponer un peligro para los senderistas pero hay que tener las mínimas precauciones como hablarles en voz alta, no acercarse a las ovejas y no amenazar a los perros con palos, bastones o piedras

La ruta, como digo, es muy bonita pero hay que pagar un peaje que consiste en una aburrida y nada interesante subida zigzagueante hasta el repetidor de Osma, situado a unos 1070 metros de altitud. La subida hasta allí es una caminata por una deteriorada carretera de asfalto, con una pendiente constante de 13.5%, durante 3.7 km. Esa carretera llega hasta el repetidor por un entorno de carrasca



Una vez alcanzado el repetidor y después de haber dejado el asfalto, todo cambia porque entramos en una zona muy natural, con sendas de tierra, hierba o grava, pero fáciles de caminar y sencillas en orientación. Además, como casi hemos alcanzado ya la cota máxima, apenas nos queda nada por subir. Esta parte es realmente bonita, es un pinar-hayedo muy verde que ofrece un paseo muy relajante



Seguimos por senda clara (es zona de cazadores) hasta el WPT “De frente, fuera de senda”. Este punto es un cruce con otra pista que llega en dirección Norte-Sur pero nosotros debemos dejar cualquier pista y continuar hacia el Este, hasta llegar a un desnivel que nos cierra el paso. Ahí giramos hacia el Norte para seguir el desnivel, un pequeño cortado. Esta zona es kárstica pero sin dificultad. Se gana algo de altitud para, poco después, volver a girar a la izquierda ya hacia la cima. No hay pista pero la orientación es fácil

La cima se distingue perfectamente por el gran montón de piedras que la señala. Este tipo de hito cimero parece ser característico de esta zona. La cima es una loma herbosa en mitad de un vasto paisaje natural, grandioso





Desde la cima iniciamos el descenso, inicialmente sin pista pero por un páramo con algún arbusto. Algo más adelante se toma una pista que no es muy claramente visible pero que se puede seguir entre los árboles sin mayor complicación. Aun así, es conveniente consultar con el GPS nuestra posición de vez en cuando

El descenso continúa tranquilamente en lo que es un paseo montañero muy relajante. Muy poco antes de interceptar la carretera que hemos subido hasta el repetidor tenemos que salir de la pista y girar a la derecha. Esto nos va a meter en un bosquecillo de carrascas por el que seguimos descendiendo hacia Osma. No hay senda en este bosque pero no es difícil caminar entre los árboles mientras vigilamos nuestra posición. Poco después, llegamos al coche

Promontory southeast of Erea from which it probably takes its name. This beautiful peak is crowned by one of the typical landmarks of this mountain range. From its summit we can contemplate the grandeur of this mountain range, a true natural paradise, which unfortunately is cyclically threatened by the construction of wind power farms, a complete aberration

My ascent

Nice route that leaves from the village of Osma, near the border with Castilla y León. Where the route starts, in the square of Cimavilla, there is no parking area so you have to leave the car where it does not disturb the neighbors

As indicated on a sign, this is an area of sheep shepherding but also of wolves. This means that there may be mastiff dogs guarding the flocks. The mastiffs should not pose a danger to hikers but you should take the minimum precautions such as talking loudly to them, not approaching the sheep and not threatening the dogs with sticks, poles or stones

The route, as I say, is very nice but you have to pay a toll that consists of a boring and uninteresting zigzagging climb to the Osma relay antenna, located at about 1070 meters altitude. The climb up to there is a walk on a deteriorated asphalt road, with a constant gradient of 13.5%, for 3.7 km. That road goes up to the repeater through a kermes oak environment



Once reached the relay and after having left the asphalt, everything changes because we enter a very natural area, with trails of dirt, grass or gravel, but easy to walk and simple in orientation. In addition, as we have almost reached the highest point, there is hardly anything left to climb. This part is really nice, it is a very green beech-pine forest that offers a very relaxing walk



We continue on a clear path (it is a hunters' area) until the WPT "Straight ahead, off-path". This point is a junction with another track that comes in a north-south direction but we must leave any track and continue to the east, until we reach a slope that closes the way. There we turn north to follow the slope, a small cut. This area is karstic but without difficulty. We gain some altitude to, shortly after, turn left again towards the top. There is no track but the orientation is easy

The summit is perfectly distinguishable by the large pile of stones that marks it. This type of summit landmark seems to be characteristic of this area. The summit is a grassy knoll in the middle of a vast natural landscape, grandiose





From the summit we start the descent, initially without trail but through a moor with some bush. Somewhat further on we take a path that is not very clearly visible but that can be followed through the trees without further complication. Even so, it is convenient to check with the GPS from time to time our position

The descent continues quietly in what is a very relaxing mountain walk. Shortly before intercepting the road that we have climbed to the relay antenna, we have to leave the track and turn right. This will take us into a small forest of holm oaks through which we continue descending towards Osma. There is no trail in this forest but it is not difficult to walk through the trees while watching our position. Shortly after, we reach the car
