ALFARNATE-PICO DEL VILO-LAKE-ALFARNATE

One of many possible walk tours in our region. It is easy going hiking trail and in 3 hours you can be back in base camp Alfarnate without big problems.

You start in the center of Alfarnate village taking direction for football field passing along you will face first small wall. Turn right and start to climb on muddy road. After one km you will go along small broadcast station (on your right) and turning slowly left you will assume up meters. Still keep signs for Pico del Vilo.

After another 2 km you will slowly enter woods walking between small rocks. Finally you reach small point similar to heliport there keep on up through pines. Might be any other 2 km when you go out from pines and firstly you will see the main summit. There are any last 2 km left to be walked. Surface turn out to be rocky again and mostly you should visually follow the top. After any hour you will reach the summit around 1445 m.a.s. There is a small case with book to inscribe you presence atop.

Views are excellent and you will enjoy whole Axarquia Region and See behind.

Descent is easy if you follow the same route. If you want to change it a bit close to heliport you can slightly turn right to follow top of the hill until you see the valley and water reservoir at the bottom of the hill.

You have to go down along fence for sheep for long time and later enter wood on your left side. All the time try to search any invisible route down. Sometimes it looks impossible but there is still any way. You cannot be lost.

After 3 km you will be down and walking along the reservoir you have to walk back Alfarnate for 2 km.

Although there is not much signs during the trip it is easy and it is going to make your proper orientation better. You will enjoy views and moderate level of this hill.
