Itinerary description
Walk starting from Puerto Otsondo with a rapid ascent up Alkuruntz. Take a good torch
as near the top as you pass some solar panels there is a tunnel. This tunnel goes on for some 200m through the mountain to a watching post where you can view the valley. Apparently built for Franco in the 1950's due to his paranoia over France and the UK invading Spain, as are the other bunkers you will see on this walk.
From Alkuruntz take the path down and onto Larrondo. On the way back you take a path to the right of Alkuruntz going round the mountain and back to the parking place.
At the intersection I have marked as Way Down there are signs 400m before at the top, saying no right of way. Look for a set of green and white poles leading steeply down through the woods to the left of the no right of way signs and you will be on the right path.
