Itinerary description

Trail from Manta Rota to Vila Real de Santo António passing through:
- Praia do Cabeço (5.2 km)
start in Alto and hike first through farmland and meadows to the
resort of Altura. It goes over wooden plank paths through the dunes
or on the footpath along the beach. The following longer section
runs directly across the beach to the nature reserve Mata Nacional
das Dunas Litorais. You will walk through this area in two sections,
which will lead you through a beautiful pine forest. In between you
will visit the town of Monte Gordo with its casino and numerous
beach bars. At the end of the tour you will reach Vila Real, a town
worth seeing on the border river to Spain. You should not miss a
stroll along the harbor and through the white-paved alleys here
before you take the train back to Tavira.
