Itinerary description
A gentle introductory walk to our mountain of AMEZTIA with panoramic views to the north towards the mountain MENDAUR on the other side of the valley and the hamlets of ITUREN and LATSAGA in the valley floor. This walk winds its way along old chestnut-lined shepherding routes and past stone mountain barns, through glades of ash trees and past dry-stone walls, before finally climbing to the crest of AMEZTIA (664m). From here there are magnificent 270 degree views of the valleys to the south and north and extensive views of the BAZTAN VALLEY to the east. The descent back to the house is with views to the south of URROTZ and through landscapes dotted with hand-made bracken stacks.
NOTE: A perfect orientation walk and introduction to the area allowing walkers to get their bearings and feel the lie of the land.
