Andrianos gorge

The fascinating Andrianos gorge is very well kept secret at the area of Aghios Nikolaos.
Wild and cragginess, need all your attention time to time.Descent of this gorge is physical and mind game for old childs.With careful, you can spend three very joyful hours of your life.
How to reach starting point:First option: From national road to Heraklion at 8o km is sign to limnes,exit to limnes and then left and again left for 3km to old road backward(to otherside of limnes).Is sign to Lasithi plateau,follow them and before Aghios Konstantinos village(3km) is turn with concrete road ahead and down,that is the starting point.
Second option:from exit of Aghios Nikolaos to Heraklion crossroad with traffic lights right for 100metres to find another crosroad which right going to Elounda and straight ahead is xirokampos setlement and the old road to heraklion,follow the old road and in 5km you met the sign to lasithi plateau,turn and in another 3km you met the starting point.
1 hour to reach the hill above andrianos village and then down ,is paths to the village or to gorge,some fences,open it and continue.You can visit the village ofcourse,they still some old people and kafeneion! The gorge is imposing,tall sides and always you have to jump huge rocks or to looking for passages who is thear and just you have to discover(gorge is not signed,just some stone towers from trekkers).
At the halfway you met the most dificult point, 5m cliff, you pass them with rops(rops is thear) Is big fat rop and safe rop to be the tie at your waist.The most skilled last (is not trek for one person!). Concetrate,bend your legs and everything they will be fine.
Another 2km at the same terrain and with the golden eagles to watch you from the top of the gorge.Andrianos gorge is fun,with a lot of attention ofcorse. At the exit is ascent on concrete road,chop off street between olive trees to the dirt road.
Ps: not for beginers/ ware boots to protect the ankles, jump up and down the stones is painful for them / early morning at summer time cause the ascent from starting point to andrianos village is hot and the end more./ No water at the area.
