Itinerary description
Ibilbidea Arantzazu Santutegian hasten da eta PR GI3005 (Ezkutuko bidea) bidearai jarraitzen dio eta basoak zeharkatuko ditu, pagadiak, lariztiak eta pinudiak. Bidean zehar PR GI3005 bidexka utziko dugu Gazteluaitz mendiko tontorrera igotzeko.

“Arantzazu toki ondo ezaguna den arren, hainbat sekretu eta txoko gordetzen ditu. Ibilbide honetan batzuk ezagutuko ditugu, ikusteko nola zeharka daitezkeen santutegiaren inguruak, hara nahitaez joan beharrik gabe. Bide batez, turismo-gidek erakusten ez dizkiguten ikuspegietatik ikusi ahal izango dugu Arantzazuko mendialdea baita Arriona eta Bellotzako saroiak ere.”
El monte Gazteluaitz se ubica en el cordal de Aizkorri, municipio de Oñati.
El recorrido comienza en el santuario de Arantzazu y sigue el sendero PR GI3005 (El camino escondido) y atravaesará bosques, hayedos, bosque de alerces, y pinares. Durante el camino dejaremos el sendero PR GI3005 por un momento para ascender a la cumbre del monte Gazteluaitz.

“A pesar de que Arantzazu es un lugar bien conocido, guarda muchos secretos y rincones. En esta ruta conoceremos algunos, para poder comprobar que se pueden surcar los alrededores del santuario sin la necesidad de acudir directamente allí. De paso, podremos admirar tanto la zona montañosa de Arantzazu como las majadas de Arriona y Bellotza, desde perspectivas que no nos enseñan las guías de turismo.”

Futbol Zelaia / Campo de Fútbol-- Aldapa eta bidexka artean aurkitzen diren sakan ezagunenetako bat da, bertan frantziskotarrek futbolean aritzen baitziren. Entre cuestas y senderos, la de Iturrigorri es una de las hondonadas más conocidas, ya que era el lugar escogido por los franciscanos para jugar sus partidos de futbol.--

Saroia / Majada--Inguruko pagadien ikuspegi bikaina eskaintzen digu sakan txiki honek. Arreta jarriz gero saroi honen haustarria ikusi ahal izango dugu. Esta pequeña hondonada nos muestra una panorámica de los hayedos. Si observamos con atención esta majada, podremos ver su piedra cenizal.--

D Bellotze
Saroia / Majada--Aspaldiko saroia da hau, beste asko bezala, zirkularra. Bellotzan ere adierazgarria da erdian daukan haustarria edo mugarria. Se trata de una majada antigua, y es circular, como otras tantas. En Bellotza también destaca su piedra divisoria central.--

It took us 2.15hrs without summiting the mountain and found it easy. Basically just the circle. We completed it anticlockwise and therefore started going down the steps across from the cultural center.
The steep steps/path have some loose stones and the path is overgrown in places. There is just a wire fence at the start and does not continue to the end.
After this you have road and then path in the woods. Some sections of the woods are wet and this is July. After a heavy rain it would be mucky as the path is also a drain for rain water.
In the middle there are green fields and the farmer was bailing while we passed.
Overall this is a fantastic walk with stunning views.
If you have a problem with heights the steep steps are not a good idea.
We completed them first but maybe doing them last may be better for some people.
