Itinerary description
Argut-Dessus...small village .parking next to the church Saint Laurent .not advisable for vans..if so park at start of village .
Head up into village and take the second left lane..this leads past valley and descends into the woods.
Here i took the right hand track that leads to Plan de Gar ..so i could take the ridge walk with views over the valley.
This route was a bit of a scramble at times and not recommended if you are not used to to..So best to take the route in opposite direction to reach the Col d, Espone.where the trail is easy to follow.
once on the ridge quite easy to make you way to the Cap Pale Broucau..nice open grass area with some rocks to sit on..head behind into the trees and small steep descent and you are at the Col d,Espone..waymarks here to the cabin Artigue, up a steep well worn track...at the cabin pass a water point and stay on the main track that climbs gently.
Continue up through the forest and reach cabin Argut..in open valley..Station Mourtice and the Tuc can be seen now.
i climbed a small track behind the cabin to reach the ridge of Col Portet ..here follow the small track over a few small summits until reaching Tuc d l,etang .
Follow ridge past the tele cabin and up to the summit Pic d, Escales .(1816)
i continued past on small ridge to reach Mont Sijol (1790).
Return same way until arriving at the col d, Espone..here follow the 4x4 track ..stay on until there is a fork in the track..take the left hand track ..this then descends down back to the village.
