Itinerary description
For those without car, starting point at Arinsal, reaching there by bus from Barcelona, and ending in Tavascán, 20 km away from Llavorsí, and bus back to Barcelona.
Day 1.
Start at Arinsal at 10 AM, and following the GR 11, reaching Coma Pedrosa peak, 3 hours later, then crossing Baiau pass, to finally reach Baiau free refuge at 3PM. The initial plan was to reach to Vallferrera refuge but the weather made it impossible.
Day 2
Start at Baiau refuge down to Vallferrera refuge, ( We recommend to start at Vallferrera refuge otherwise this stage can be quite long ) deviation up to Baborte refuge, with steepest part at the beginning. After reaching Baborte lake and refuge, climbing up to Sellente pass, the easiest part of the climb.
Then long descend to Boavi plain, 1 km flat way and then up again to Certascan refuge. Another 800 m ramp, strongest at the beginning, and at the end. Night at Certascan refuge.
Day 3
Climbing up to Certascan pass, passing by Certascan lake, with its 1000 x 600 x 103 ( deep ) m, making it the biggest and deepest natural lake in the Pirenees. Then long descent until Graus. The end of the trek goes quite flat by the Tavascan river until the tin village of Tavascan.
Hitch-hike necessary to get the main valley and public transportation.
