Itinerary description
Hiking this central zone of Britanny allows seeing another side if this region, a more traditional and peasant-like scenery, with hilly terrain and dense forest. This short hiking is a circuit that departs from the Bon Repos Abbey and mounts to the forest in La Croix-Rouge's side. The initial part goes by unpaved roads, then it joins the road that leads to the Forges des Salles. There it returns to the Canal Nantes-Brest, where it takes a detour to see a floodgate. From there it is possible to cross the Canal and return to the Abbey by the track next to it. Nevertheless, I decided to take a different and more tricky return, climbing again onto the Croix-Rouge forest to then go back to the Abbey. This part is dense, the sun bearly enters and there is no marked path. In compensation, seeing the rock formations, along with the trees and branches that cling to them, are worth it. I include two photos of this area.
