Itinerary description
Circular route from the town of Arroyo Frío to Linarejos then Cerrada de Utrero and back to Arroyo Frío. We walked clockwise so that we would do the difficult ascent from Arroyo Frío first. The climb is steep rocky and loose and approximately 2 km long and you gain 400m. It is the most difficult part of the walk. We took an easy pace stopping frequently to enjoy the amazing scenery We also saw deer on two separate occasion as well as Griffin vultures and water snakes (not poisonous). We stopped off for food and drinks at the Chiringuito de Cerrada de Utrero which we can recommend. Also, we can highly recommend leaving the gravel road, before Linarejos, to walk to the edge of the gorge of Cerrada de Utrero. The descent from the road was a bit sketchy because the path is not well defined and it is steep and loose but the view from the edge was spectacular and the walk back along the stream was very picturesque and enjoyable.
