Arroyo Nacimiento – Cantera de los Arenales
This walk starts from the outskirts of Mijas by the Puerto fountain. There used to be an old fountain here but they have replaced it with a new one.
You head towards Osunillas passing the old olive tree, and then turn left into the arroyo Nacimiento.
Head up this dry stream for about ¾ kilometre.
I think I turned right too soon going up another arroyo which was quite
Challenging to the top, and then coming down also.
(I think I should have gone up a bit further up arroyo Nacimiento where there is a better path on your left. This walk didn’t pan out the way I expected it. I will improve this walk at a later date to avoid the challenging bit).
The second arroyo leads all the way into the Arenales quarry, where I went around it.
Going up some steps you eventually arrive to a signboard and the quarry car park.
Head down the road to the first bend and take zig zag path down the firebreak, which eventually leads all the way back to the arroyo Nacimiento.
Walking poles highly recommended.
