Itinerary description
We drove to Ars and parked the car just outside the town on a little bend with space to stop. We first took a little stroll through the town before heading to the left of the town down the road for a few meters. You then take a trail off the road with signs to Call del Grau.
It's quite steep uphill for around 3/4kms through the beautiful forest. You then come to a plateau and you can see the peak up ahead. Keep following the signs past the refugio and follow the yellow markers off the road and head uphill another 150 meters over 1 km before you get to the viewpoint.
From the viewpoint there is a sign pointing to Call d' Ares. Follow this down the road for sometime. Don't forget to look to the left for the mountains in the back. After 5kms you'll come to another viewpoint. You'll be able to see Civis. Follow the road down to Civis and there are signs for lots of shortcuts! It takes about 40 minutes.
Once in town head down a small side road in the centre. It's not signed. And you'll follow the road for a while with a few short cuts. On the road you'll see a path going down and the yellow markers start again. After about 2kms there is a sign to Mistrells and Ars. It goes up hill quite steep for 15minutes. You'll come to the abandoned town of Mistrells. Keep following the path until you see the castle remains and Ars.
