Itinerary description
A walking tour of Atenas and the hills just south of town including a barrio named Pica Flora. The start point was selected because our map showed "Atenas Tourism". We did not find it, but it was a nice street and a good place to park the car. On completion of the hike I forgot to stop recording so the distance was actually 8.5 km not including the 1 km drive back to the grocery store (and 20 minutes of wandering around the store!).
The path was sidewalk and paved road for about half the way and gravel or dirt road for the portions furthest from town. A good town for re-supply, has numerous restaurants and most other needs (including pharmacies, health and dental clinics, bike shops, car repair etc).

We did the same route except we came down to the cemetery area instead of going to Coopeatenas. Easy walk very kind people fun to run into small stores to buy juices and snacks. Lots of nature on the way as well: we saw iguanas, all sorts of spiders and even a toucan flying around-too far to take a good picture of.
Yes, a nice area and lots to see. Glad you liked it!
