Itinerary description
Park the car at the church of Ayagaures, Close to the first of two hydroelectric dams in the area. Most of the hike is through Parque natural Pilancores. Signposts says this streach of the hike is closed and on the way you find more than one hint that someone do not want people hiking in the area. After a while you reach a road barrier where the trail continue to the right - do not follow the river bed as we did for a while too long, there is a trail up to the right when you are at the dry river.
We did not see any wild and dangerous dogs as the signs says - on the other hand it might be different during summer (we hiked in December 2017).
You find a lot of tasty tunas on the cactuses along the trail. Use hand protection if you want to try them.
After having passed some ghost houses you face a very steep part of the trail that takes you up from the valley to the rim. And the end of the climb you have a small rest area with some history from the time when the valley was more lively. From this direction there are no signs at all that the trail is closed into the valley.
Rest of the hike is easy along good trails or dirt roads all the way back to Ayagaures.
