Itinerary description
The idea was heading for Stoumont. I detected a small fire in the wood. At that location there was no cell phone coverage. I went up to a higher point and notified the emergency number 112. The service is located and Liege and they had nearly no idea - except gsm location - of where I was. It took the fire brigade nearly 2 hours to reach the location, though I communicated GPS coordinates. The firemen (6) told me I was right to have called for them. I decided to call it a day and return to the nearest bus stop. The "ballade de la mine d'or" is really a nice path and it's on the list to redo and complete on a next occasion. While waiting for the fire brigade, a local passed and told me more about the neighbourhood. This "balade" was the first one designed and promoted around early 1900 by an engineer who loved the region. The "Ninglinspo" - most famous and starts a bit earlier on the N633 - is younger. The rail and bridges were recently refurbished.
