Itinerary description
A spectacular hike in the unique Shouf region. We started wandering at the historical old castle “Saray Jumblat” built in 1720, then we headed towards Baadaran runway (inactive airport) built by the French during the mandate period. At this spot, u can enjoy a splendid panorama that spans in all 360 degrees. Here we had the chance to chat with the mayor where he guided us to an established trail leading to Haret Jandal named “Al Sayfeye”, it was a very clear, well marked and well preserved descent path, thanks to the locals efforts and during which one can see the most magical breathtaking views.
Afterwards, a moderately tricky part where u have to venture between prickly bushes amid olive orchards and astonishing overlooking sceneries, until u reach an exquisite perfect spot for coffee break beside a river with a series of cascades along.
Then u need to cross to the other side of the river over a wired bridge and follow the trail until u reach “Bisri Hiking Trail” situated in the bottom of a valley with dramatic cliffs above and beside Awali river.
