Itinerary description
The bajos los picos trail doesn't actually enter the mountains, but it gets you close to them. Most of the trail is in the forest (especially the first half), in the second half of the trail it becomes more and more open.
For someone who's experienced this is probably not a very difficult trail, but given our (fairly non-existent) level of physical preparation, it was still quite intense. What I disliked from that physical side is that there is a big climb in the first half of the trail, but then there's a second, still not insignificant, climb just before you reach the end point. It would of course have been much more nice to have a smooth decent to the end point :)
The views here are great though, the only downside is that due to the length of the trail and the route, you don't have that much variation. Lots of forest without long views (but with lots of little nice rivers crossing the path) and then lost of views of pretty much the same part of the Picos.
All in all, a pretty exhausting walk for us, but a nice one. And the village you end in has one or two nice bars / restaurants where you can recuperate after your walk :)
