Itinerary description
This is a great hike at any time of year. It provides a number of spots to stop and admire the stunning views across beautiful Lake Cowichan to Honeymoon Bay and the Mesachie peninsula as well as views down the Cowichan River Valley and across the Lake to the Robertson River valley.
The trails are well groomed & marked. You will mostly be out in the open with a little bit of shade in spots, as the timber in this area has been havested in the past and the trees are in a stage of regrowth.
This trail starts along the Wetland Loop trail, takes the Summit Connector to the Lower Plateau for a short walk to the Summit trail and then on and up to the summit.
A shorter version of this hike which turns around at about waypoint #11 can be found on Wikiloc as "Bald Mountain Saddle (Lake Cowichan) - Retreads".
The Retreads Hiking Club gives this hike an AVA rating of 4 B.
