Itinerary description
START: at the roundabout near the tourist office, on the sea front in Banyuls.
We follow the 'Avenue Général de Gaulle' into the town. We follow this road, with a river bed on the left, as far as a railway bridge.
We go under the bridge, we continue along the road a little further, then we turn to the left and go up the 'Rue Amiral Vilarem'. We follow yellow waymarks.
We reach a gendarmerie (on the left). We go straight ahead, up a staircase. Beyond the steps, we climb a stony path.
We continue straight ahead, along a lane called the 'Route du Mas Reig'.
We reach a road, by a stone tower, where that road turns to the right. (The 'Jardin du Mas de la Serre' is on the left.). We cross the road and we go up the 'Carrer de l'Ouranole' on the left. At a bifurcation, we go up a road on the right (we are still following yellow waymarks).
At the top of that road, we go straight ahead onto a footpath. The path climbs to a pretty hilltop chapel called 'Notre-Dame de la Salette'. This is a wonderful viewpoint.
We go straight ahead and we descend a little. A road goes down to the right, but we follow a path which climbs again, on the left (we are still following yellow waymarks).
The path follows the line of a ridge for over a kilometre.
At a bifurcation, we leave the yellow waymarks and we follow a track on the right.
We meet a road at the 'Coll de Llagastera'. We go along the road, to the right. Here, there is a table d'orientation', with a superb view down to Banyuls and the Mediterranean coastline.
The road bends to the right, but we go straight ahead, up a footpath which has red-and-white waymarks. This is the GR10 long-distance path, which traverses the Pyrenees mountains from the Atlantic coast to Banyuls.
We follow this trail, with its red-and-white waymarks, along a clear path all the way back to the sea front in Banyuls.

This circuit is similar to the more recent one at "Saint-Jean (Sant Joan) - Banyuls de la Marenda", and no-one has reported a problem on that route.
