Itinerary description
Physical difficulty: 1.5/5
Note #1: The terrain on the Mjesečev plato (aka Plato Mjeseca; eng. Moon Plateau) is all rocks and absolutely NO SHADE anywhere. It' advisable to avoid it in the summer months because there is a very real danger of a sunstroke. Spring and autumn are recommended for doing this hike.
Note #2: During spring and autumn, it can get very windy on the plateau.
Note #3: We went off-trail on the return from Diviška peak, to avoid going back the exact same way.
--
This is an easy, but very attractive hike.
The trail starts near the Saint John's Church (Sveti Ivan) and cemetery in Baška. The trail is color-coded in the Czech/Slovak marking type (blue, yellow, green), which is an oddity in Croatia. The markings are very clear throughout, so there's no danger of getting lost.
After a zig-zag ascent through the forest, you will enter the so called Moon Plateau, where you can basically go in any direction even without following the official trails since the terrain is mostly very flat.
Our route covers almost all of the officially marked spots, except the peaks Hlam (on the Plateau) and Zakam (can be visited during the descent from the Plateau).
