Itinerary description

Beautiful hike from Baskinta village (Centre Abdallah Ghanem) to Chakhroub (Mikhail Naimi mausoleum) then back to the starting point via another route. A section of this trail is part of the "LMT Baskinta Literary trail". The part from "Saydet El Khelli" waypoint to "Back to trail" waypoint is difficult and recommended only for expert hikers: No trails, Steep ascent and descent, bushes, thick trees blocking the way. We did this part "Off the trail" because we wanted some challenge! It wasn't a piece of cake especially that my dog didn't enjoy at all this kind of terrain. To make the trail easier, you can continue on the LMT trail instead of going down to the valley. On the way back, part of the walk was on asphalt road. Beautiful sceneries all the way: Sannine with its beautiful "grande coulee", Zaarour, Mzaar, Bakish...

IMPORTANT UPDATE: AVOID THE PART FROM "SAYDET EL KHELLI" WAYPOINT TO "BACK TO TRAIL". A COUPLE OF HIKERS WERE STUCK THERE AND HAD TO ASK FOR HELP (SEE COMMENTS BELOW). I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PART TO ANYONE! KEEP HIKING BUT STAY SAFE!

Undoable, this said from the certified guide of baskinta, when he saved us while trying to navigate this trail. not recommended, even for expert climbers.

Hi Nicolas! It is doable (we did it). Who said that certified guides are tough hikers?? They mainly follow trails only! I already said it is very tough and i do not recommend it. I will not do it again but we did it once!

Hey Ramy, I don't mean any disrespect, and I'm sure you are a very experienced hiker (among other things I'm sure) but I was mainly stating that given the not so accurate GPS coordinate synchronization that we have here in Lebanon, it's so hard to follow your trail. Even though you did it once it is impossible to follow the exact trail given the obstacles of trees, spike shrubs, bushes and slippery pebbles on the steep ground. I don't mean it is undoable in the sense of ability or sense of nature, it is impossible to follow the trail... now I don't mean to rain on your accomplishment, but we (me and my friend) tried it and reached a wall and had to call for assistance from the fire department and they sent an experienced hiker in the area (Baskinta), not to mention a member of the fire department to guide us back... now again I'm not saying that your trail is not doable, but it is impossible to follow given the integrity of the trail and the laid back technology of our country. I hope you understand, this is no attack against you or your accomplishments, this is just to state how difficult the trail is and that it is Expert Level, so other inexperienced hikers will know not to choose it and get lost and maybe go on another easier hike (that you recorded or others). Hope you understand.

Hi again Nicolas! I totally agree with you! I already mentioned in my description of the trail that this part of the trail is difficult and it is not meant to be for hiking! We did it because we wanted to explore the area and we were stuck so we had no choice but to find a way!! I would never do it again! As u said, following a gps map in this area is very difficult and inaccurate and one may never find the exact way we did it (by chance!). So for safety reasons, i will change the description to let everyone avoid this part :) Thank you for trying to follow my trail and im sorry for the inconvenience you had :( Hope to see you on the trail one day! Keep hiking :)
