Itinerary description
Great hike through the Bayehon and Ghaster valleys to the Peak Beer brewery and restaurant, and back via the large waterfall Cascade de Bayehon, Longfaye and the Cheneux forest. Hike on forest roads and small paths with rocks, stones and tree roots, which may require waterproof shoes in winter, and are steep in places. You can find something to eat and drink in the brewery and at a restaurant near the end of the hike, at Moulin de Bayehon. The Cascade de Bayehon is a 9 meter high waterfall in a scenic spot. At the start there is quite some parking along the road near the Bayehon bridge.
From the start, you take the path/forest road through the Bayehon valley upstream, passing the river twice on bridges (or fords). You then take a smaller more uneven path along the Ghaster stream. The path passes below one of the Ovifat ski slopes, passes the stream several times, and then has a somewhat steeper climb out of the forest. You follow a small path to a forest road, and here you can go to the brewery for a break, if you like. You then turn back to the forest road called Voie du Fer and start descending slowly along moors and forests. The forest road turns into a path and ends up with another forest road. This road you follow back to the Bayehon valley, which you then follow downstream a short while to the Bayehon waterfall. You have to descend a short and steep path to get to the foot of the waterfall. After having admired the scenic waterfall you climb back up the short path, and then follow the path through the valley downstream almost to the Ghaster valley. About 270 meters before that, you cross a bridge and take a steep path up through the forest to the field track Chemin de la Bicoque. Here you have wider views. You walk to Longfaye, and then a short stretch along the main road before taking the field road Chemin des Noûlis. This field road taking you along pasture and forest until it ends with a path that takes you back down to the Bayehon valley. Here you walk upstream back towards the start. On one steep side of the valley the forest has been completely harvested. A bit further you pass the Moulin de Bayehon and you arrive back to the start.

Vandaag laatste dag van de vakantie tot aan de waterval gewandeld. Heel mooi. Volgende keer zeker heel de wandeling. Nu iedereen beetje moe.
😊 In ieder geval een mooi vooruitzicht!
