Itinerary description
this was an exploratory trail.
the aim was to combine mar challita qnat and the cave/old monastery inside chir el dolmaz in beit menzer area.
we parked out car in beit menzer and started the hike toward the qnat town following a seasonal water canal, reaching qnat we visited the mar challita church that is craved inside a cliff, the walk up is amazing yet slippery and the site is magical, back in the town we climbed back slowly inside the town reaching back the main road of becharre after visiting qnat town.
the second aim was to visit ruins of an old citadel/monastery built in the middle ages , in the middle of chir el dolmez.
the way we took to the site was not clear however the way back was on a clear agricultural road that is easy to follow, so it is better to take it both ways.
reaching the foot of the grotto, the way to access it is more of a climb and is not easy, require some skills and physical state, however the views from up there are breathtaking.
the sites are really amazing to see , however if you decide to do it, just in the second part take the same road to and back from the monastery, it will be easier
