Itinerary description

Beautiful hike with great views of the Monte Rosa massif, glaciers, and moraine. From the bridge near Zamboni Zappa you could make an easy extension towards Lago delle Locce (about half an hour one way), for which I did not have the time unfortunately.
This hike starts out at the end of the Belvedere chairlift. Here you will also find two restaurants to choose from at the start or end of the hike. The hike takes you up to Rifugio Zamboni Zappa. You first walk up to the edge of the Belvedere glacier moraine. The Belvedere glacier has split up here and you cross the southern branch. On the other side of the moraine you climb to the edge of the moraine and follow this upward. There is a path crossing the moraine to bivacco Marinelli after about 500 m, but you stay on the path to the Rifugio. A bit further you have the choice of two paths, and you can choose either. I chose the left, lower one on the way up and the other path on the way down. The path takes you ever closer to the Rifugio. An old bridge to the Rifugio has broken down, and you have to take the new bridge a bit further. The Rifugio is about 100 m from the bridge. You can eat and drink something here, and also stay the night. At the bridge is also another path along the river taking you to Lago delle Locce, if you want to extend the hike. From the hike you can also climb to the Capella Pisati with great views of the Belvedere glacier and the Monte Rosa massif. The path here on the moraine edge further upward had been closed. After enjoying the view you get back down to the bridge, and follow the other path back down. After having crossed the moraine, you keep left on the edge to get to a great viewpoint of the Belvedere glacier moraine where it splits up. A small path takes you along the edge down towards a broad track onto the moraine. Here, you return to the starting point.

Here, there is a turn-off for the sentiero bivacco Marinelli. It did not look like the path is used a lot

I would like to know what kind of cable car is there? Open or close one.
