Itinerary description

Sendero Acequia del Guadalmina

Category: Country Walk / Sandpiper walk
Meeting Place: Café Cocina, Benahavís Village,
Distance: 8.65 km
Grading: Easy to Medium

Itinerary:
This walk starts in Benahavis and follows the boardwalk in the Benahavis Gorge, before crossing the gorge and climbing up to the old aqueduct. The walk then continues along the aqueduct before dropping down to the Guadalmina river and returning along a new trail by the river and then returning to the village by the boardwalk. The scenery is spectacular!

Take the A7175 turning to Benahavis off the A7, which is the second exit after the San Pedro tunnel from Marbella. Go across the roundabout towards Benahavis. At next roundabout decorated with a Benahavis waterfall, go straight on. The road goes under the AP7 and then comes to a cross-roads. Go straight across and continue to the next roundabout at the entrance to the village (about 3 km). Take 2nd exit and go up the hill. You will have a natural right turn in the road and go over some speed bumps. You will then have buildings on the right hand side and should see the cookery school which has three flag-poles outside. Just after that, again on the right hand side is the first café on this stretch with chairs and tables outside. This is the meeting place. There is be plenty of parking immediately before the café.

    Hi Nev
There is another beautiful walk in Benahavis. The route of the dragonflies, that goes around the reservoir. Check it out if you have the time.
    Best wishes
    Tony
