This is a a fantastic walk up an easy to follow trail that will take you to the peak of Monte de Calamorro.
The walk starts at the train station giving easy reference for anyone travelling along the coastal track from other resorts.
The first 3 km takes us slowly through the suburbs of Benamaina, Pueblo Sierra and Pueblo Xanaduacross the motorway to the foot of the mountain.
From here we wind up an easy to follow track to then head East under the cable car lines to a small 'chapel' before crossing a larger access path. Around the back of the mountain, to take a final 15 minute slog to the summit.
At the summit the cable car station has a cafe and toilets.
Heading back we use the access track to wind to the foot of the scramble we did to the summit - instead we take the path down the west side of the mountain with excellent views of where we have just been - with the satisfying knowledge we did not cheat and take the cable cars.
