SEE FOR MORE HIKING ON FUERTEVENTURA: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/6117e/41364/
This hike starts at a parking just outside the old village Betancuria, and must be the most windy hike that we did on Fuerteventura.
The first half is over a mountain ridge, with very nice views of the valleys on the right and left. One peak unfortunately is disfigured with a big antenna station. The part on the ridge was extremely windy when we did the walk in Januari 2015.
After we reached a shallow peak, we walked back (about 600 m) and descended towards the village Vega de Rio Palmas. In the beginning the trail to Vega de Rio Palma is not very clear, but once you're on it, it is easy to follow.
If you want to add some extra kilometers to this hike, you could continue from the peak into the direction of Tiscamanita and walk clockwise towards Vega de Rio Palmas, this probably adds about 7 km.
From Vega de Rio Palma you follow the Barranco de Betancuria (GR-131) back to Betancuria.
This hike gets 3 out of 5 points from us, if the weather would have been better with less wind, maybe it would have gotten 4 points...
