Itinerary description

Rainbow Falls or Gudda Gumoo (Rainbow waters) in local aboriginal is a spectacular walk down to Rainbow Gorge and spa pools in the upper part of the creek system. The locals call the upper spa pools the top pools.

The walk down is through stringybarks and spiky grasstrees. On the way down to the left of the track are several of shoots that allow you to look into the gorge from the surrounding cliff faces. At one point you can even see down into the area around Rainbow Gorge.

As the height continues you eventually reach a 'y' junction where to the left you take 240 stairs down to the lower pond. This descent is via a spectacular cliff face and is the highlight of the journey.

At the bottom where the pool is you can then descend further to eventually hit a track that will take you to a little gully where a rope has been placed where you can climb down and eventually hit a lot rope ladder which allows you to descend to the cave below this pool. This section is extremely difficult and only really can be done by experienced climbers.

After visiting the lower pools area you can then come back up the track or go to the area above the lower pools to view across the gorge. This track goes to the area above the gorge before ascending via the watercourse up to where the spa pools are.

The return is then by the track which comes back to the 'y' junction that you were at earlier.

All up an easy hike foremost as long as you avoid the lower cave section.
