Itinerary description
Blåvannet (literally "Blue Lake") is an intense blue gorgeous lake (alt. 190m) that contrasts blatantly with the steep grey mountains in the background (Nordre Jaegervasstinden and Litle Lenangstinden). At 70 km from Tromsø (including the Ferry), it's located in the nothern part of the Lyngen Alps mountains.
This is a nice walk in easy terrain. However the last hundreds meters up to the lake involve climbing over large stones and scree. The trail is very well signposted, just follow the red markers.
It seems that the beautiful blue colour of the water is explained by the silt particles in the melt water from the Lenangsbreen glacier.
Easy parking (with a ecological and clean dry toilet) at Sør-Lenangsbotn, 2 km after Jaegervatnet lake. The trails starts immediately at the parking.
