Very simple circular route to walk from Bled. The ideal is to do it as shown in the route, that is, in a clockwise direction, in this way you go upstream of the throat and all the way to the exit of the throat is descending.
The outward journey is all by asphalt, always close to the road, with a small shoulder on the right margin and a road that carries a lot of traffic, much of which will also go to the Vintgar gorge. This stretch of road has no shade for much of the route, so if the day is sunny, like the one that touched me, it will be a bit heavy to walk along those big lines without a small tree that shelters us from the sun. Until you get to the town of Podhom, our route is not separated from the one that the cars must follow to get to the gorge and therefore the road to this small town will take a lot of traffic and neither will it be very pleasant or very beautiful.
If one decides to go by bike, it must be said that the road from Bled has some slope to reach the entrance of the Gorge. In the ticket sales area (€ 4 adults) there is an exclusive parking to leave the bikes, although it is convenient to arrive early because it is fast. In the throat is not allowed to enter with the bike, not even walking with it, so in the case of having chosen this means of transport, you will be forced to walk the gorge on foot, in the same direction both on the way back, since you will have to pick up the bike again to return to Bled. It should also be noted that you can reach the entrance to the gorge by taking a bus in Bled (schedules can be checked at the bus station).
When the gorge is finished there is the possibility to visit and bathe in a waterfall, which is accessed by going down stairs located on the right (direction of travel) next to the exit house of the gorge (do not have to cross the bridge that on the river allows to see the cascade downstream). The path to the waterfall is indicated by a wooden arrow, on which a camera is painted. It is necessary to go down the stairs, turn to the left and cross a bridge, for nothing else to cross it to turn again to the left and to find the waterfall to the few meters.
The way back is made through a dirt path that crosses a dense forest and climbs with moderate-high slope until reaching the church of Sta Catarina. There are several indications to it along the way (I have included them as Waypoints). Next to the church of Sta Catarina there is a bar with terrace and outdoor tables where you can eat and / or drink something for a very reasonable price.
From here, the return to Bled is done by asphalt road, shared with the cars, but much quieter than the one-way road. Of course, there are no shadows either, so in the case of a sunny day we will have to suffer a little bit before reaching Bled.
In conclusion, very simple and recommended route, easily accessible from Bled, through a very nice and easy to walk throat, which despite being visited by many people, is not overwhelming (at least on the date when I could perform it, which has been high season: August 2016.).
