Itinerary description

A figure eight hike in a fairly remote border area of Manderfeld (in Belgium), near Losheim (in Germany).

The first and last part of the hike, or the lower part of the figure eight, are varied and lead through secluded valleys, along streams and across high plateaus. The northern loop is an ascent to the hamlet of Buchholz. The Hotel Waldfrieden in Buchholz is closed, so bring your own refreshments. In July, the trail from Buchholz along the Frankenbach passes large fields of blueberries, and also raspberries. If blueberries are not in season, the northern part is less interesting, and those with little time may skip this part. The trail has some ups and downs, but mostly follows forest roads and can be done even in unfavorable weather.
