Itinerary description
A great trek overall, despite the fact the first 5-6km is uphill on tarmacked mountain road albeit very quiet and with great scenery , natural rock garden vegetation and fantastic views of El Lentiscal and Bolonia beach.
Once you reach the pinnacle you can enjoy the Pope’s seat, the remains of an Iron Age archeological site, yacimiento de La Silla Del Papa.
The views are stunning especially on a clear day. Enjoyed at its best in March-June for its greenery but I would not advise you doing in July or August, but enjoyable any other time of the year. The trek down us along man made paths cleared to install antenas and radars. So along the way we took a few detours off the track which are enjoyable and more like the hiking we are after.
End the hike in one of beach side restaurants like Otero at the very end of the dirt track parallel to the Baelo Claudia Román ruins there (a must see)
Seafood is superb but the cheese flan is to die for
