Itinerary description
We started this walk at the parking place at the entrance of Bolonia.
From there you walk along the road to El Lentiscal where you pick up the Via Pecuaria. This is a wide track at the beginning through quite open scenery until you reach the pine woods. Then the track becomes really sandy and as the track goes up and down between a height of 20 to 60 metres the going is slow and it might be very hot in summer. The track is beautiful though and remains so all the way to Casas de Las Palomas.
There we followed a small path descending to the beach.
The track along the beach back to Bolonia is very, very beautiful and versatile. Stretches of hard sand, walking across small and big stones, going up and down on small sometimes rocky paths where the coast juts out into the ocean, all the time giving magnificent views on the most bizarre rock formations along the coast and especially the long sttrectch back to Tarifa. Most of the time the path is marked with white and green stripes. The last three kilometres or so are across hard sand again.
Most remarkable are Los Baños de Claudia, an old Roman bathing place.
