Itinerary description
From Stresa or the highway follow the signs for giardino alpina / Mottarone. Starting in front of Alpine gardens the trail is easy up to about mid way where it turns into a steeper rocky trail to the top of the Mottarone mountain.

Dal Giardino Alpino seguire sempre le indicazioni L1 dei cartelli CAI. Sentiero abbastanza monotono anche se la traccia è perfetta. Buon divertimento.

in my opinion the trail is very unspectecular. you hardly see the lake or anything but the trees and the rocky road. but on the other hand - it is the only trail I found, where you can walk to top of the mountain without starting at see level, which I did not want to do.
