BuenaVista, Mijas a Carvajal

Llevo tiempo con ganas de junta dos rutas que he hecho el año pasado, para hacer una ruta desde Buena Vista por El Pechón, cruzando la carretera A-365 y de allí bajando a la Costa, en este caso a la Estación de Cercanías de Carvajal. Hoy lo hice con un amigo, y la ruta resultante es muy interesante por dos razones. Primero, aun no siendo una ruta circular, se puede llegar al punto de salida en el autobús de linea No 121 de Torremolinos a Mijas, y conecta con el Tren de Cercanías en la Estación de Carvajal. Segundo, la mayor parte de la ruta transcurre por senderos, y solamente hay asfalto desde la autopista hasta la estación.
Salimos desde la Urb. Buena Vista, y inmediatamente empezamos un ascenso bastante pronunciado que dura unos 2km. Tomándolo con calma no es difícil. Desde arriba hay vistas bonitas de Fuengirola y la Costa. El sendero no tiene perdida, aunque hay que tener en cuenta que hay muchas bifurcaciones con senderos alternativos. La bajada es algo peligrosa por la superficie pedregosa y hay que tener mucho cuidado. Una vez en la carretera A-365 giras a la izquierda para 200 metros hasta encontrar una carretera sin asfaltar al otro lado, que nos lleva hacia abajo. El sendero que encontramos pasa por la ruina de una casa grande, y aunque estás en una zona con muchas residencias, parece que estás en un paisaje totalmente rural. Una vez pasado por encima de la autopista, caminamos sobre 2km de calle de una urbanización abandonada, donde ni siquiera han construido una casa. Se ve por los brotes de arbustos, las hierbas entre los pavimentos, y las aceras levantadas por las raíces de los arboles, como la naturaleza se está reclamando su terreno. La nueva ruta es interesante y se puede hacer en 3 ó 4 horas, y fácil de hacer por la combinación con transporte público. En algunas partes, hay que tener cuidado por la superficie pedregosa y muy suelta. Requiere botas de senderismo y bastón.
For some time I wanted to join two routes which I did last year, to make a route from Buena Vista, over a place called El Pechón in the Mijas mountains, crossing the A-365 and from there down to the Costa, in this case the Train Station of Carvajal. Today I did it with a friend, and the it turns out to be an interesting route for two reasons. First, although not a circular walk, the start can be reached on the bus route No 121 from Torremolinos to Mijas, and you end up at the Train Station of Carvajal. Secondly, the main part of the route is through mountain paths, almost goat tracks, and only on asphalt from the motorway to the station.
We started from the Buena Vista Urbanisation, and immediately started a steep climb for about 2km. Taking it easy, it is not difficult. From the top there are nice views of Fuengirola and the Costa del Sol. The pathway is easy to follow, although there are many branches off to alternative routes. The descent is a bit dangerous because of the stony surface and care is needed. Once down to the A-365 road turn left and about 200 meters further down you will see a unsurfaced road on the other side, taking us in a southerly direction. The pathway we then find takes us by the ruin of a substantial old house, and even though we are walking through a zone with many residents, it feels as if you are in a totally rural landscape. Once we have crossed the bridge over the motorway, we walk for 2km on a street of an abandoned urbanisation, where not one house was built. From the sprouting bushes, the grasses on the pavements, and the paths lifted by the routes of the trees, it can be seen that Nature is reclaiming its land. The new route is interesting, can be walked in 3 or 4 hours, and easy to do because of the combination with Public Transport. However, in some places care must be taken due to the stony and loose surfaces. Hiking boots and sticks are needed.
