Itinerary description
This is the route I used to get from the centre of Sofia to Dragalevski, the suburb where the waymarked Bulgarian section of the E4 European Long Distance Trail begins. It is based on the Sultans Trail route. It begins by following the restaurant lined Vitosha boulevard and then takes you through a green corridor of parks avoiding built up areas. Much of the final section is along a busy road. Dragalevski is also where the climb up Vitosha mountain starts. This huge mountain is ahead of you on this walk. For my complete trek on the E4 across Europe read my book "Six Pairs of Boots: Spain to Cyprus on the E4 Trail" by John Pucknell available from Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.com, the Bookdepository.com, lehmanns.de, bookspot.nl, and other good online bookstores.
