Itinerary description
Cádiz is an amazing city.
There is only one problem with Cadiz and that is parking.
On the southside they are removing 8Km of parking and making a cycle lane.
Your best bet is to use one of the many underground car parks, or use a hotel car park.
We stayed in the Hotel Puertatierra, (1Km from the historical centre) and to be honest
we could not fault the hotel. The staff were very friendly. Cannot comment on the food as we ate out each day. Cadiz is not like Granada for tapas. The best eating experience we found was at Freiduria las Flores in Plaza Topete, also called plaza de las Flores.
It serves all kinds of fried seafood. You have to take a ticket to be served. On the left side is for the restaurant and on the right it's for takeaway.
Get there early around 1pm as it is a very popular place. The main market is also a good place to eat.
Here is a run down of the sites we took in.
Puerta de Tierra (Where the walk officially starts, but we started from the hotel)
Carcel Vieja (Old prison)
Teatro Romano (Amphitheatre)
Iglesia de Santa Cruz
Catedral
Castillo de San Sebastian
Playa la Caleta
Castillo de Santa Catalina (Closed due to storm damage, but you can walk to it's entrance)
Parque Genoves
Gran Teatro de Falla
Torre Tavira (La camara Oscura)
Yacimiento Romano
Plaza de las flores / Plaza Topete
Museo provincial de Arquelogia y bellas artes (Museo de Cadiz)
Plaza de la Mina
Plaza de Espana
Plaza de San Juan de Dios
Convento de Santo Domingo
